Specially Adapted Housing (SAH)

Grants for veterans with specific severe service-connected disabilities to build, buy, or modify a home to accommodate the disability.

• SAH grant: up to ~$117,000 (2026) for severe disabilities like loss of use of both lower extremities, blindness with loss of one hand, severe burns, certain neurological conditions
• SHA (Special Housing Adaptation) grant: lower amount for less severe but still qualifying disabilities
• TRA (Temporary Residence Adaptation) grant: for veterans living temporarily in family members’ homes
